What data do you collect?
We collect no personally identifying information. If you consent, we will collect general information such as your city or type of data breach for analytics purposes. However, this information will not be linked to you.
Do you auto-submit the breach report?
No. You must submit the breach report. You are ultimately responsible for its accuracy.
I am hesitant to report an incident. Would it be better if I just ignore it?
We cannot offer you legal advice, and we cannot tell you what to do. However, we have found that the majority of personal information breaches go unreported. This leaves individuals at risk and weakens the general state of Canadian cybersecurity. We have created this tool to make it as easy as possible to learn about and report data breaches. The decision ultimately rests in your hands. Nevertheless, we highly recommend doing so for yourself, your customers, and your community.
What is the difference between the small business and the enterprise solution?
If you feel that you need someone to guide you through the entire process from the breach reporting to potentially assisting in restoring your data then this is beyond what our tool can offer. Hence, we have tried to make it simple by connecting you to our partner network which includes breach consultants, data recovery experts and lawyers dedicated to assisting you during this very difficult time. We simply make the introduction for free and the rest is up to you.
